Overview of balakot
Balakot
The historic town of Balakot, 40 km from Mansehra, is the gateway to the Kaghan valley
is called Balakot means high fort. It is also called Balakot due to being on a high hill. Balakot Valley is spread over an area of 10 square kilometers. 3226 feet above sea level, Kot City is situated on both banks of the Kunhar River. The Kunhar River meanders from north to south with every point, foaming, and swaying. Before the limits of Balakot, the river’s rapidity decreases due to the widening of the river on the right side. In this area, there are picnic spots on the banks of the river so you can enjoy it for a while. When the Mujahideen movement started during the Sikh period, Maharaja Ranjit Singh had to face a lot of trouble due to this movement. The founders of this movement were Syed Ahmad Shaheed and Shah Ismail Shaheed. The graves of the two great martyrs are also reminding the greatness of their Mujahideen in Balakot. The land of great martyrs like Syed Ahmed Shaheed and Shah Ismail Shaheed was destroyed as a result of the 2005 earthquake. Alhamdulillah, these people have returned to the splendor of life again.
